I had the pleasure of sailing in HK with a local member of the RHKYC each Saturday in the harbor - sometimes it was practice sailing and others official race sailing. But we would also risk a sail pre and post tai fung and that was exciting and scary too. One particular race meet was immediately post tai fung and the officials were un-decided whether to call it off our not. In the event they didn't and so we braved a choppy harbor and snapped a mast and were un-ceremoniously towed back to the club. Another choppy incidence saw us getting too close to one of the ocean liners and losing the wind. The captain was quite rightly screaming instructions to get clear as we were about to be battered to splinters against this huge ocean monster and this was only in the habor not the open sea!
